A superb road cycling holiday through Japan. In a country filled with a myriad of cultural and historical sights, this is a true cycling paradise which pleasantly contradicts the usual image of this busy & industrious nation. Our route follows immaculate roads and leaves the well-worn tourist paths far behind. We’ll travel on quiet, well-paved back roads through Japan’s wooded hills into charming rural and coastal landscape.

We begin and end our “figure of eight” tour in the ancient capital, Kyoto, where we will explore the temples and historical back streets by day and experience the hustle and bustle of the now modern cultural capital by night. Firstly we will cycle to Hikone before transfering to Takayama in the Central Alps.

We’ll venture to Shiragawa and onto Kanazawa on the Sea of Japan before moving on through Osaka and onto an overnight ferry to Matsuyama on Shikoku. From here we begin our ride to the inland sea islands. Hopping a number of these on our way to Hiroshima before taking the bullet train back to Kyoto.
